ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dennis D Hunt was born in 1941 in Reading Berkshire. His mother died in 1948 and he subsequently moved from Reading to Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire with his father and two brothers. Dennis attended the local Secondary Modern school which he left in 1956 at the age of 15 without gaining any scholastic qualifications. After working behind the grocery counter at the Co-op in the village of Heath and Reach, Dennis joined the army in 1958, enlisting as a boy soldier with the R.E.M.E. He was discharged on medical grounds from the Army in 1960 as a result of injuries sustained whilst boxing.

After leaving the Army Dennis undertook a series of short lived jobs before joining Vauxhall Motors in the ‘Trim Shop’ as an assembly worker in 1964. He continued with his boxing career representing Vauxhall Motors on a number of occasions. After a three year period attending night school, where he gained a City and Guilds Certificate in Engineering, Dennis training as a Body Design Draughtsman with Vauxhall Motors in 1967, before transferring his employment to Rootes Motors (today owned by Peugeot). He continued attending night school gaining two A-level qualifications in the process.

In 1977 Dennis left the motor industry and started his own business: IRPC (Industrial Relations and Personnel Consultants) UK Ltd in Hinckley Leicestershire. This business ultimately grew to employ over 100 staff before being sold by Dennis in 1991. During the development of IRPC, Dennis started two other businesses, Personal Performance Consultants UK, and Legal and Personnel Insurances Ltd, which launched the UK‘s first telephone legal advisory service backed by legal expenses insurance. All of these businesses continue to trade profitably and successfully today.

In 1991 Dennis, together with his wife Linda, launched Dennis Hunt Risk Management Services Ltd. This company specialised in Industrial Tribunal representation for employers, and at any one time was handling up to 500 cases across the length and breadth of the country. Due to the onset of end stage renal failure, this business was subsequently sold. After a lengthy period on dialysis, Dennis received a transplanted kidney from his youngest daughter Lesley in 1999.

Dennis moved from Rugby England, to Pembrokeshire, South Wales in 2002. He continues to enjoy good health, and to write and enjoy the beauty of the Pembrokeshire land and seascape. Together with his wife, Dennis is blessed with three children, two step sons, four grandchildren and three dogs!
